What is paint by numbers or color by numbers

The history of paint by numbers can trace it's origins back to the early 1950's. The kits were created and invented by Max S. Klein an engineer and owner of the Palmer Paint Company of Detroit, Michigan.

painting by numbers describes kits having a board on which light blue or gray lines indicate areas to paint, and each area has a number and a corresponding numbered paint to use.In children's activity books, some simple activities are often presented to children that are called color by numbers.

When Palmer Paint introduced crayons to consumers, they also posted images online for a "Crayon by Number" version.
Paint by Numbers therapy has many benefits. As well as increased self-confidence, it can significantly improve motor skills,
the ability to control hand and arm movements and the entire body and help people with slight tremors. It’s also proven to increase concentration.

In 1951 Palmer Paint introduced the Craft Master brand which sold over 12 million kits. This public response induced other companies to produce their own versions of paint by number. The Craft Master paint kit box tops proclaimed, "A BEAUTIFUL OIL PAINTING THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY."

Since the paint by number kits have been created they have been improved and remade by several companies resulting in some amazing piesces of art.
When they first stared they started out as simple paintings of a flower to now where you can paint elaborate sceneries
of amazing landscapes and cities.
